Federal Judge Overturns Trump Administration’s Efforts to Close US Institute of Peace

A Federal judge ruled that the Trump administration unlawfully removed the board of the US Institute of Peace earlier this year and that subsequent actions taken by officials installed by DOGE are therefore “null and void.” USIP was established by Congress 40 years ago and is not subject to presidential executive action without congressional approval. The Board is now back in USIP’s offices. It remains unclear if the ruling stands as it will likely be appealed.
