Schiffer Hicks Johnson – On July 9, 2021, President Joe Biden signed an executive order calling for stronger enforcement of antitrust laws to promote competition and curtail the consolidation of American industries. The expansive order included 72 actions and recommendations to over a dozen agencies aimed at alleviating the negative effects of consolidation— namely, higher prices and lower wages—which the Biden administration estimated have cost the median American household $5,000 per year.
