Congressman Barr Introduces NIST COVID-19 Cybersecurity Act

Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY) has introduced the NIST COVID-19 Cyber-Security Act, which would instruct the director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology to produce standards for mitigating and protecting against cyberattacks to American universities researching COVID-19. Congressman Frank Lucas (R-OK), ranking member of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, supports the bill, citing “disturbing evidence of state-sponsored cyberattacks from the Chinese Communist Party directed at universities and organizations conducting vital research on combatting COVID-19.”
